M4D29 - New lessons, new priorities.

I'm greatly appreciating this challenge. It feels great to write every day, and I'm learning a lot in doing so. Some key insights have come from having to sustain a fast pace of posting. For example; previously I'd shoot for the moon and try to dump as many ideas as I could in posts that would meander and never get done. But now I've learned the value of a succinct and pithy post.

I also get the sense that my writing has improved. Having an audience pushes me to pay more attention to what I say, and how I communicate it. It's done wonders for my general writing flow. I can now write well-structured pieces much faster, and much better.

But perhaps I'm enjoying it all more than I should. I haven't been catering to certain essential aspects of my life. I've been doing less sports, I've been less focused on academics, I've been cooking less, and as a result I've been eating less healthy. The extra half hour I spend posting each day would come in handy for addressing some of these concerns.

So the question really is: what should I prioritize?

Thinking about it, I'm confident that with but a few tweaks to how I set up my schedule, and by dropping one or two bad habits, I can fit everything I want to in. It's inspired me to set some resolutions / goals for next week:

  1. Wake up at the same time every day. I'm thinking 8:30 A.M. This routine will help my mind stay sharper, and I've heard good things about the long term health benefits of a regular sleep schedule. I'll accomplish this through my next resolution...
  2. Get to bed earlier. By curbing some of my evening activities, I'll have more time to work in the morning, and thus get more done.
  3. Work out every day. I feel that it's important to maintain a good physical regimen to maintain a sharp mind. So I plan to spend more time either in the pool, or bouldering.
  4. Eat healthy, cooked meals every day. I absolutely need to find some time to shop and meal plan this weekend, otherwise I'm going to keep eating poorly, which tends to make me feel less energized. Hopefully, a better diet will boost my general well-being and productivity.

These adjustments should help make me fresher and brighter, and thus more able stay on top of all my other tasks!
